SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

The School of Continuing Education, one of the eight Faculties/Schools/Academy of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors. The School is inviting applications for the following position:

Senior System Analyst/ System Analyst (Ref. No.:23241039)

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and develop robust application systems that meet business needs;
• Engage in the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment and provide ongoing support and documentation for application systems;
• Organise meetings with vendors and stakeholders to review progress, action items, and project plans;
• Conduct user trainings; 
• Assist in the tender process, including preparing tender requirements; and
• Provide support to special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• A recognised degree in IT/Computer Science or related disciplines;
• At least five years of work experience, including two years in the role to manage IT projects.  Experience in school-related projects is preferred;
• Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerBuilder, JAVA, JSF, PHP, Python, RESTful API, Websphere and Linux Shell Script would be highly desirable;
• Strong technical skills are required in designing databases, optimising performance, and writing stored procedures for MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase;
• Practical experience with PeopleTools, PeopleQuery and BI reporting tools is preferred;
• Excellent project management, communication and problem-solving skills with patience, and ability to meet deadlines and multitask; and
• Candidates with less work experience will be considered as System Analyst.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
