Project Title
Enhancing the professional competence of nurses in Hong Kong on Chinese Medicinal Nursing
Project Objective
- Enhance Hong Kong nurses’ knowledge and skills on Chinese Medicinal Nursing and related application in different specialty areas; and
- Examine the integration of Western and Chinese Medicinal Nursing practices in the Greater Bay Area and beyond through exchanges of practices in e-Symposium.
Project Aims
Promoting Hong Kong nurses to:
(a) enhance knowledge and skills on Chinese Medicinal Nursing; and
(b) examine integrated Western and Chinese Medicinal Nursing practices on different specialties to establish our own practices that are most suitable to clients in Hong Kong.
The proposed seminars will cover a wider range of specialties and explore more comprehensively the integrated approach of Chinese and Western Medicinal Nursing practices in hospitals and clinics, and the training topics were selected based on the suggestions of the participants from the previous webinars.

Chan Wing Kwong (Professor, Hong Kong Legislative Council member) is currently registered Chinese medicine practitioner, legislative council member (Election Committee), chairman of Hong Kong registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association, and adjunct associate professor of School of Chinese Medicine in Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has dedicated his time on government and social services, he is member of Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Election Committee (Chinese Medicine), member of Regulation of Chinese Medicines Practitioners, Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong. He was appointed as Chairman of the Chinese Medicine Practice Subcommittee (CMPSC) and Chairman of Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association Charitable Foundation, Executive member of the Presidium of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. He is also the deputy convenor of the development of Chinese Medicine Specialties in Hong Kong. Yu Chau Leung, Edwin (Professor, Founder and Honorary President) is Hong Kong specialist doctor and registered Chinese medicine practitioner. He is the first batch of Hong Kong specialist doctor obtained Chinese and Western Medicine qualification doctor and he teaches Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. He was honorary consultant doctor in Hospital Authority and is an honorary clinical deputy professor at faculty of Medicine, Hong Kong University and is an honorary professor at school of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist university. He is currently an adjunct professor at CUHK Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine. Prof. Yu Chau Leung, Edwin has been dedicated to public and social services, he was appointed as member of Chinese Medicine Development Committee in Hong Kong Government, and recommended as specialist at 25 Years Anniversary Ceremony of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. He is currently working as director of Hong Kong Combined Health Medical Clinic, founder and honorary president of Hong Kong Association for Integration of Chinese-Western Medicine. He was former chairman and chairman of charitable foundation of Hong Kong Museum of medical sciences. He has been teaching in Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Scholarship over a decade. He set up IJOP online course in School of Chinese Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and set up 3D Acu-Man Exhibition. He was awarded Innovative Grand prize of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and recorded in Hong Kong Year book. | |

Cheung Chun Hoi (Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Associate Director and Assistant Professor of Practice) graduated from HKBU with a Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science double-degree and a Master’s degree in Chinese Medicine with a concentration in orthopaedics and tui na. His research focuses on both clinical and educational researches. His clinical researches mainly focus on the management of bone and joint diseases using Traditional Chinese Medicine methods including fracture treatment, dislocation treatment and soft tissues injury treatment such as cervical diseases, protruded disc herniation etc. His investigations on modern teaching pedagogy research usage in TCM teaching include the application of service-learning in TCM teaching, the application of Flipped Classroom in clinical teaching, the systematic internship teaching and assessment rubrics development etc. Mr Cheung is also active in the Chinese medicine development in Hong Kong. He has been appointed as the Secretary General of Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medical Practitioner Society and the committee member (TCM Orthopedics) of Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Specialty Development Committee. | |

She is head of nursing department of national first-class professional construction, and is a leader of Chinese Medicinal Nursing at School of Nursing, Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has been dedicated to social services, she is a rehabilitation supervisor at integration of Chinese-Western Medicine professional committee of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, deputy vice-chairman of Chinese medicinal nursing branch of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, deputy vice-chairman of Chinese medicinal nursing branch of Fujian Chinese Medicine association. She is in charge of Fujian Natural Science Foundation, and joined Fujian significant education reform programme and she has published 30 papers in Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and she also has published 75 academic papers. She is an editor of People’s Medical Publishing House Co., Ltd. and she edited 2 set of teaching materials and she was deputy editor for 4 set of teaching materials of China press of traditional Chinese medicine Co.,Ltd . She was awarded 1 national patent application, 2 practical latest patent application, 3 calculator software copywrite. She was also awarded as Fujian Sciences technology improvement third prize etc. In addition, she was Fujian renowned teacher, China and outstanding rehabilitation nurse of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine. |

Dr. Ng served as the Programme Leader of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme (BSN) of KWNC and Executive Officer of the Education Department. She successfully implemented curriculum reform, innovative pedagogy, and has the role of a leader during institutional and programme evaluations. She has been a key member of the Nurses Association of Macau for numerous years and is currently a member of the Medical Council of Macao Special Administrative Region Government. | |
