Project Title

Enhancing the professional competence of nurses in Hong Kong on Chinese Medicinal Nursing

 

Project Objective

  • Enhance Hong Kong nurses’ knowledge and skills on Chinese Medicinal Nursing and related application in different specialty areas; and
  • Examine the integration of Western and Chinese Medicinal Nursing practices in the Greater Bay Area and beyond through exchanges of practices in e-Symposium.

 

Project Aims

Promoting Hong Kong nurses to:

(a) enhance knowledge and skills on Chinese Medicinal Nursing; and

(b) examine integrated Western and Chinese Medicinal Nursing practices on different specialties to establish our own practices that are most suitable to clients in Hong Kong.

The proposed seminars will cover a wider range of specialties and explore more comprehensively the integrated approach of Chinese and Western Medicinal Nursing practices in hospitals and clinics, and the training topics were selected based on the suggestions of the participants from the previous webinars.

 

Fee

Free of charge targeted at Registered Nurses (RN) and Enrolled Nurses (EN) and midwives

For Registered Nurses (RN), Enrolled Nurses (EN), Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) 3 points will be awarded after completion of ONE seminar (3 learning hours).

Zhan Wen Ying (Chief Nurse) is currently chief nurse and charge nurse of department of general surgery at GuangDong Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and a part-time professor at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. She serves as a Branch President of ear acupressure treatment care at Guangdong nursing staff association and Committee Member, Deputy Secretary General at professional ear acupressure committee of Guangdong acupuncture association. She was awarded the “Outstanding Clinical Practice Teacher” at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, “Outstanding Chinese Medicinal System Nurse” and “Excellent Clinical Teacher of Chinese Medicinal Specialist Nurse”.

Mai Xi Huan (Deputy Chief Nurse) is a charge nurse and deputy chief nurse of Paediatrics at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine First Affiliated Hospital. She specializes in Paediatrics, Infants, Emergency Rescue Management and using Chinese Medicinal Nursing on rehabilitation management, which has rich clinical working experiences for 27 years. She is Vice-Chairperson of 9th Council of Paediatrics Professional Nursing Committee at Guangdong Nursing Association and Committee Member of 2nd Council of Neonatal Nurses Branch Association at Guangdong nurse association.

Chen Pui Yee (Professor)was formerly professor of school of nursing at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. She worked as various positions for 14 years including clinical nursing instructor, teaching officer in nursing department and chief nurse in University affiliated Hospital. On the other aspects, she had extensive working experiences for 23 years in university including Chinese Medicinal Teaching, Management and Scientific Research. She had stayed at the frontline of clinical nursing, teaching and scientific research for 37 years and she has always been passionate about her job. She has been dedicated to public and education services, she is a leader of priority fields of study at Chinese Medicinal Nursing in National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She serves as Committee Member (External Assessment) at Master of Nursing (Chinese Medicinal Nursing) School of Nursing and Health Studies, Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

Quan Xiao Ming (Professor) is head of nursing department at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine First Affiliated Hospital and Associate Dean of Faculty of Nursing Department at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. She was a chief nurse, and she teaches master students, she is a leader of National Priority Fields of Study at Chinese Medicinal Nursing and Nursing. She has extensive working experiences including clinical nursing, nursing management and nursing teaching for 38 years and she has rich working experiences in Surgery Department, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, Orthopaedics & Traumatology Department and Nursing Department. She serves as Committee Member of Chinese Nursing Association and Deputy President of Chinese Medicinal Inheritance and Innovative Development Community Committee.

She serves as Committee Member at Chinese Medicinal Liver Disease Care Union (South China Region) in National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She is also honorary Clinical Associate at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. She is also Head of Nursing and Teaching Department of School of Nursing at Guangdong Chinese Medicinal Hospital. She has been active in social and public services, she is a project leader, Key Specialties of Chinese Medicinal Nursing at National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Vice-Chairman of nursing professional committee at World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.

She was awarded the “National Excellent Management Elite” and is a project leader of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chinese and Western Medicine integrated Nursing Union.
